Valley Christian has gone 9-1 against Archbishop Mitty recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Warriors will take on the Monarchs at 7:00 p.m.
Valley Christian is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 42 points on September 12th, they were much more limited against Junipero Serra on Saturday. They were dealt a 41-6 defeat at the hands of the Padres. The Warriors have struggled against the Padres recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.
Even if they lost, Valley Christian's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Cameron Saunders, Federico Cobarubio, and Chase Togiai, who each picked up one sack apiece. Another thorn in Junipero Serra's side was Saunders, who picked up a sack and made 12 total tackles.
Meanwhile, Archbishop Mitty entered their tilt with St. Ignatius College Preparatory on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They strolled past the Wildcats with points to spare, taking the game 37-23. The game was the first time the Monarchs have beaten the Wildcats on their field since October 8, 2016.
Valley Christian better keep an eye on Lazaro Faraj-Washington. He was instrumental in Archbishop Mitty's win, rushing for 227 yards and three scores. Faraj-Washington is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 123 every time he's taken the field this season. Kai Sniffen made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Archbishop Mitty was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 249 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September of 2024.
Archbishop Mitty didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Grant Siripoke, Caden Kelly, and Sniffen picked up one apiece. Sniffen got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Archbishop Mitty's record now sits at 3-1. As for Valley Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Valley Christian has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 157.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Archbishop Mitty struggles in that department as they've been averaging 171 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything came up roses for Valley Christian against Archbishop Mitty in their previous matchup back in September of 2024, as the team secured a 47-7 win. In that contest, the Warriors amassed a halftime lead of 26-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
