Whitney is 2-7 against Maypearl since December of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Whitney Wildcats will head out on the road to square off against the Maypearl Panthers at 6:00 p.m. Whitney is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses.
Whitney suffered their biggest defeat since November 7, 2023 on Friday. They took a serious blow against Grandview, falling 72-17. While losing is never fun, Whitney can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1125th, while Grandview is ranked 334th).
Meanwhile, Maypearl came up short against Clifton on Friday and fell 35-25.
Whitney has been struggling recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-16 record this season. As for Maypearl, their loss dropped their record down to 16-14.
Whitney suffered a grim 56-36 defeat to Maypearl in their previous matchup on January 5th. Can Whitney avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
