The Bothell Cougars will venture away from home to take on the Inglemoor Vikings at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Bothell is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.
Bothell was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Juanita on Wednesday. The Cougars were the clear victors by a 9-3 margin over the Ravens. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by six runs or more this season.
Addison Hall spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on eight hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Berlin Roberts and Mili Westergaard did most of the damage at the plate: Roberts went 2-for-4 with three RBI, while Westergaard went 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI Westergaard has posted since back in March. Avery Jensen also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Inglemoor). They blew past Hazen 17-3 on Wednesday. Winning may never get old, but the Vikings sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Campbell Looney (2029) made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Looney (2029) was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Piper Michaels (2029) was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Sienna Tachell (2029), who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
Inglemoor hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive contests.
Bothell's record is now 15-4. As for Inglemoor, they now have a winning record of 9-8.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Bothell has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Inglemoor struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Bothell's way against Inglemoor in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Bothell made off with a 13-3 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
