The Dundee Vikings will take on the Carlson Marauders at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.
On Thursday, Dundee made easy work of Hillsdale and carried off a 15-1 win. The Vikings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by six runs or more this season.
Lauren Doane tossed a big game, not allowing a single hit and allowing only one earned run while striking out 13 over five innings pitched.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ella Rath, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, three RBI, and one triple. She continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. Lacey Evans was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three runs and one triple.
Dundee kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last contest, Carlson made sure to put some runs up on the board against Anderson on Thursday. The Marauders sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 12-10 victory over the Titans.
Avery McAuliffe looked comfortable as she tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, she posted three strikeouts, the most she's had over her last three games.
On the hitting side, Kiley Lewandowski was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabelle Salas, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Dundee pushed their record up to 6-4 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games. As for Carlson, their win bumped their record up to 12-10.
Saturday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Dundee hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .318. However, it's not like Carlson struggles in that department as they've averaged .355. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Dundee's way against Carlson when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Dundee made off with an 8-1 victory. Will the Vikings repeat their success, or do the Marauders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
