The Slocomb Red Tops''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their eighth straight loss. Their rough 37-14 loss to Bullock County might stick with them for a while. Slocomb was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Bullock County apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2022.
Cade Birge threw for 118 yards on nine of 20 attempts. Maddox King was his top target, picking up 58 receiving yards and a touchdown. On the ground, Hayes Hatton rushed for 76 yards.
Slocomb's defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 2-8. Sadly, the team can't blame their woes on tough opposition, as that stretch included 3-7 Dale County and 3-7 Geneva (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 36.9% over those games). As for Bullock County, their win ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-6.
Slocomb will take on Geneva County at TBD on Thursday. Geneva County comes in on a streak of failing to score more than eight points in their last nine games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. Bullock County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
