The Fremont Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They took a hard 49-33 fall against Lincoln Southwest. While losing is never fun, Fremont can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 203rd, while Lincoln Southwest is ranked 20th).
Kate Denker and Matthea Dalton certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Denker scored 14 points along with three steals, while Dalton scored eight points along with 13 rebounds. Dalton has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last six times she's played.
Fremont's loss was their ninth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 2-10. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 27.9 points per game. As for Lincoln Southwest, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fremont won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Lincoln High at 3:30 p.m. on January 20th. Lincoln High is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak. As for Lincoln Southwest, they will head out on the road to face off against Millard West at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
