The Penelope Wolverines will head out on the road to take on the Coolidge Yellowjackets at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Penelope comes in on nine and the Yellowjackets on four.
Last Friday, Penelope strolled past the Eagles with points to spare, taking the game 61-46. Given Penelope's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 700th, while the Eagles are ranked 1510th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Penelope's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Michael Corson, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds, and Jayden Schwarz, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 14 rebounds. Schwarz hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for 18 straight games.
Meanwhile, Coolidge didn't have too much trouble with the Panthers at home on Tuesday as they won 42-27.
Penelope's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 23-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.0 points per game. As for Coolidge, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matches, which provided a massive bump to their 15-6 record this season.
Penelope barely slipped by the Yellowjackets in their previous matchup back in January, winning 55-54. The rematch might be a little tougher for Penelope since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
