The Lafayette Commodores waltzed into their match on Tuesday with three straight wins but they left with four. They snuck past Corinth with a 64-59 win. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Despite the defeat, Corinth saw an underclassman step up: Xae Mayes almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine rebounds. Mayes is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Braedyn Burress, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds.
Lafayette's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-13. As for Corinth, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-16.
Lafayette will play host again and welcome New Hope, where tip off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. New Hope has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 407 points over their last six matchups. Corinth does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
