The Asheboro Hybrid Academy Warriors's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They took a 38-32 hit to the loss column at the hands of Millers Creek Christian. Asheboro Hybrid Academy was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Millers Creek Christian apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Despite the loss, Asheboro Hybrid Academy had strong showings from Emily West, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks, and Autumn Voncannon, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds. Voncannon continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.
KENNEDY MARSH was the offensive standout of the contest as she scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was ELLIE SMITH, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds.
Asheboro Hybrid Academy has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season. As for Millers Creek Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 5-2.
Asheboro Hybrid Academy will head out on the road to challenge South Guilford HomeSchool at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. South Guilford HomeSchool has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. Millers Creek Christian won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Southview Christian at 6:30 p.m. on January 12th.
