Basketball Game Preview: Aquinas Monarchs vs. Bishop Neumann Cavaliers

Aquinas hasn't had much luck against Bishop Neumann recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Aquinas Monarchs will be playing at home against the Bishop Neumann Cavaliers at 6:00 p.m. Aquinas is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.1 points per game this season.

Bishop Neumann will be up against a hot Aquinas squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. Aquinas secured a 53-49 W over Kearney Catholic on Saturday.

Bryant Stouffer was his usual excellent self, going 9 of 15 on his way to 24 points and six rebounds. His morning made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Kasen Lavicky was another key player, going 5 for 9 en route to 15 points.

Aquinas was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kearney Catholic only racked up seven assists.

Meanwhile, Bishop Neumann was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 58-57 heartbreaker at the hands of Freeman. While losing is never fun, the Cavaliers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 64th, while the Falcons are ranked ninth).

Aquinas' win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-6. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.6 points per game. As for Bishop Neumann, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-7.
