The Southern Christian Patriots's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fifth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 72-14 loss at the hands of Evangel Christian. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Southern Christian has scored all season.
Evangel Christian got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Clay Stanton out in front who scored 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Solomon Schneider, who scored ten points.
Southern Christian bumped their record down to 1-5 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 29.3 points per game. As for Evangel Christian, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 15-2.
Southern Christian will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on East Central HomeSchool at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th. As for Evangel Christian, they will head out on the road to square off against Valiant Cross Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Alabama (Valiant Cross Academy is ranked 86th, while Evangel Christian is ranked 69th).
