Baseball Recap: Heritage Academy Has No Trouble Against Thunderbird Adventist Academy

Heritage Academy lost to Thunderbird Adventist Academy back in March, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. The Heroes were the clear victors by a 10-1 margin over Thunderbird Adventist Academy. The Heroes might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by nine runs or more this season.

David Mota spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up 11 Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Heritage Academy is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-4 otherwise.

At the plate, Heritage Academy let Carson Grover and Mattson Young run wild. Grover scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3, while Young scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. Heritage Academy is 2-1 when Grover posts two or more stolen bases, but 2-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Crew Clouse, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Heritage Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Thunderbird Adventist Academy only posted an OBP of .217.

Heritage Academy has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Thunderbird Adventist Academy, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Heritage Academy will host Ajo at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Heroes are facing the Red Raiders at the right time seeing as the Red Raiders are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Thunderbird Adventist Academy, they will challenge Wickenburg Christian Academy at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday.
