For the second straight game, Ripon will face off against Waupun. The Tigers will head out to face off against the Warriors at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday. The last three games Ripon has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Ripon fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Waupun on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 8-7. The Tigers haven't had much luck with the Warriors recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.
For Waupun's part, Logan Prall was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Prall was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.
In other pitching news, Landen Larsen looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Chase Beahm, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Brennan Redeker, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Waupun kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in four consecutive games.
Waupun's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-1. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Ripon, their loss dropped their record down to 3-8.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Ripon has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Waupun struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
