The Episcopal Maroon will face off against the Highland Hawks at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Episcopal had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. They strolled past Woodbridge with points to spare, taking the game 58-40.
Episcopal's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Malcolm Stute led the charge by scoring 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Pelkey, who scored 13 points.
Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Highland ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They managed a 64-58 win over Caldwell Academy. Given Highland's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked ninth in Virginia, while Caldwell Academy is ranked 73rd in North Carolina), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Episcopal's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Highland, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-3.
