Football Game Preview: St. Joseph Cadets vs. Brookfield Bobcats

The St. Joseph Cadets will venture away from home to face off against the Brookfield Bobcats at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few points on average, (St. Joseph: 9.7, Brookfield: 7.3) so any points scored will be well earned.

St. Joseph is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Sunday. They walked away with a 17-10 win over Hand. The victory was nothing new for the Cadets as they're now sitting on four straight.

Meanwhile, Brookfield never let their opponents score on Sunday. They really took it to Berlin for the full four quarters, racking up a 28-0 win. Considering the Bobcats have won 11 matches by more than 20 points this season, Sunday's blowout was nothing new.

St. Joseph better keep an eye on Tyler Buttendorf. He was instrumental in Brookfield's win, rushing for 156 yards and one touchdown while picking up 7.4 yards per carry. Buttendorf didn't just play on offense: he also made three total tackles and defended one pass.

Brookfield was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 307 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 158 rushing yards in 18 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Brookfield's victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-0. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 5.3 points per game. As for St. Joseph, their record now sits at 9-3.
