Basketball Recap: Johnson City Comes Up Short

Johnson City was the 69-36 winner over San Saba when they last played one another back in February, but their luck changed this time around. The Johnson City Eagles fell 47-40 to the San Saba Armadillos on Friday. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Johnson City lost, don't look at Brady Odiorne. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. Odiorne is becoming a predictor of Johnson City's success: when he posts at least eight rebounds the team is 4-2 (and 2-3 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Collin Corpus, who posted eight points and five assists.

Even though they lost, Johnson City smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in five consecutive matches.

Johnson City's loss dropped their record down to 6-5. As for San Saba, with the win, they broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-6.

Johnson City wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 58-56 victory against San Marcos HomeSchool on the 27th. As for San Saba, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 51-36 win against Rocksprings on the 27th.
