The Walkertown Wolfpack are taking a road trip to challenge the Morehead Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Walkertown will be strutting in after a win while Morehead will be coming in after a loss.
On Thursday, Walkertown got the win against Cornerstone Charter Academy by a conclusive 11-3. The result was nothing new for the Wolfpack, who have now won four contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Macy Miller was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Miller was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Chloe Isaacs, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one RBI. She continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. Rachel Roddy was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Meanwhile, Morehead unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They came up short against Walkertown, falling 15-9.
Taylor Hopper and Saillie Aheron stepped up to the plate in a big way. Hopper went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Aheron fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-4. Hopper is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubrey Easley, who went 2-for-3 with three runs.
The victory made it two in a row for Walkertown and bumps their season record up to 6-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Morehead, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 3-3.
Walkertown got the 'W' in their previous meeting on Tuesday against Morehead by a conclusive 15-9 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolfpack since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
