Heartland Lutheran is 2-7 against Red Cloud since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Heartland Lutheran Red Hornets will be playing in front of their home fans against the Red Cloud Warriors at 6:00 p.m. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Saturday, Heartland Lutheran didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Franklin, but they still walked away with a 33-28 victory. The victory was just what Heartland Lutheran needed coming off of a 54-24 defeat in their prior matchup.
Brielle Saddler and Ella Francl were among the main playmakers for Heartland Lutheran as the former scored ten points along with seven rebounds and five steals and the latter scored 11 points along with four steals. Francl is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ema Koch, who scored five points.
Meanwhile, Red Cloud scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They managed a 56-51 win over Blue Hill.
Red Cloud can attribute much of their success to Logan Brown, who scored 19 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Brown has scored all season. Kari Kucera was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Heartland Lutheran's victory bumped their record up to 5-9. As for Red Cloud, they pushed their record up to 9-7 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home.
Heartland Lutheran was taken down by Red Cloud 65-18 in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. The contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Heartland Lutheran was down 30-8.
