Rivera continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Tavion Steen was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with two steals.
Even though Gonzales has not done well against Cuero recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Gonzales narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Cuero 62-60. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Young Men's Leadership Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 8-13. As for Gonzales, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-18.
Everything came up roses for Young Men's Leadership Academy against Gonzales when the teams last played back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 73-44 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Young Men's Leadership Academy since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
