The Piedmont Hills Pirates will head out to square off against the Westmont Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Piedmont Hills is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.
On Thursday, Piedmont Hills came up short against Leigh and fell 3-1.
While Piedmont Hills ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 17 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 21-25, 25-22, 25-17.
Despite the defeat, Piedmont Hills had strong showings from Eden Ng, who had 20 digs and two aces, and Katelyn Young, who had seven digs and three aces. Zimo Zhou also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.
Meanwhile, Westmont didn't have quite enough to beat Evergreen Valley on Thursday and fell 3-2. The loss continues a trend for the Warriors in their meetings with the Cougars: they've now lost three in a row.
Westmont wouldn't go down easily and took Evergreen Valley into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking four-point loss. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-21, 23-25, 21-25, 15-11.
Westmont's defeat dropped their record down to 14-16. As for Piedmont Hills, their loss dropped their record down to 10-15.
Piedmont Hills came out on top in a nail-biter against Westmont in their previous meeting back in September, sneaking past 3-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pirates since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
