Basketball Recap: Fort Mill Makes It Six in a Row on the Road

Fort Mill hadn't done well against Catawba Ridge recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Fort Mill Yellow Jackets strolled past the Catawba Ridge Copperheads with points to spare, taking the game 51-34. Given the Yellow Jackets' advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked seventh, while the Copperheads are ranked 91st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Fort Mill got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Logan Parker out in front who went 6 for 10 en route to 20 points. Parker's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nas Berry, who posted ten points along with five assists and five boards.

Catawba Ridge lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Isaiah Thomas, who scored nine points. The dominant performance also gave Thomas a new career-high in blocks (two). Mark Caslaru was another key player, putting up eight points and six rebounds.

Fort Mill's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-2. As for Catawba Ridge, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-12 record this season.

Fort Mill will face off against Clover at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Clover is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.1 points per game this season. As for Catawba Ridge, they will take on Northwestern at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
