The Herriman Mustangs pushed their score all the way to 67 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to American Fork 71-67. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Herriman in their matchups with American Fork: they've now lost nine in a row.
Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Malcolm Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 rebounds. The matchup was Johnson's third in a row with at least ten points. Carlo Mulford was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Herriman's loss dropped their record down to 2-1. As for American Fork, their victory bumped their record up to 1-2.
Herriman will be playing at home against Provo at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Provo knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three games -- so hopefully Herriman likes a good challenge. American Fork is on the road again on Friday and play against Corner Canyon at 6:20 p.m. on December 1st. Hopefully Corner Canyon focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Thursday.
