The Legacy Charter Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their third straight loss. They fell to Trinity Christian Academy 38-32. Legacy Charter was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Trinity Christian Academy apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
When it comes to explaining why Legacy Charter lost, one person who can't be blamed is Mallory Daniels. Despite the final result, she scored 19 points along with six rebounds. Daniels scored a full 59.4% of Legacy Charter's points, the eighth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashlyn Kraus, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and five assists.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Trinity Christian Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Haylee Morelli, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. That's the first time this season that Morelli pulled down eight or more rebounds. Kaylin Spor was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Legacy Charter's defeat was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-6. As for Trinity Christian Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-6 record this season.
Legacy Charter will be playing in front of their home fans against Orangewood Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Trinity Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Liberty at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: India Smith and Morelli.
