Basketball Recap: Clyde Piles Up the Points Against Throckmorton

Clyde had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.3 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They took their matchup with ease, bagging a 61-23 win over the Throckmorton Greyhounds. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 25 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Clyde to victory, but perhaps none more so than Gracie Caperton, who posted 17 points in addition to five assists and four steals. Caperton's morning made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Morgan Mauldin, who had seven points and seven steals.

Clyde smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in four consecutive games.

Clyde pushed their record up to 14-4 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.5 points per game. As for Throckmorton, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-11.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Clyde will head out to face off against Merkel at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Throckmorton, they will head out on the road to take on Newcastle at 6:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
