The Jefferson Patriots suffered their biggest loss since December 5, 2023 on Tuesday. They were outmatched by Wilson on the road and fell 72-37. While losing is never fun, Jefferson can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1331st, while Wilson is ranked 432nd).
Wilson got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Evan Deatherage out in front who scored eight points along with nine rebounds and two steals. That's the first time this season that Deatherage grabbed two or more steals. Another player making a difference was Leighton Bruscato, who scored nine points along with four steals.
Jefferson dropped their record down to 2-14 with that loss, which was their seventh straight on the road. As for Wilson, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-12.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing South Oak Cliff the next time they take the court. Wilson will head out to face South Oak Cliff at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while Jefferson will host them at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
