The McAllen Bulldogs will head out on the road to face off against the Rowe Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Rowe took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on McAllen, who comes in off a win.
McAllen scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Valley View 126-39 on the road. McAllen has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 contests by 21 points or more this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead McAllen to victory, but perhaps none more so than Dylan Benavidez, who scored nine points along with four steals. Benavidez is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last six games he's played. Jackson Ramirez was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with six assists and two steals.
Meanwhile, Rowe had to suffer through a rough 68-40 loss at the hands of McAllen Memorial. While losing is never fun, Rowe can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 502nd, while McAllen Memorial is ranked 206th).
McAllen is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 24-9 record this season. As for Rowe, their defeat dropped their record down to 21-12.
Everything came up roses for McAllen against Rowe in their previous matchup back in January as the team secured a 70-36 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for McAllen since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
