Volleyball Recap: Ocoee Triumphs

Ocoee hadn't done well against Apopka recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Knights came out on top against the Blue Darters by a score of 3-1. That's more bragging rights for the Knights, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Ocoee had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 23-25, 25-15, 25-15, 25-23.

Maya Henderson paced Ocoee's offense, picking up ten kills. Henderson got some help from Alyssa Barnes and her 24 assists. Henderson was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

The victory made it two in a row for Ocoee and bumps their season record up to 5-2. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-7 Central Pointe Christian Academy and 2-6 Apopka. As for Apopka, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ocoee will host Central Pointe Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Apopka, they will welcome West Orange at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
