5A Continental recap November 13, 2013
Douglas County fell to Fairview 45-17 last week, the largest margin of any game. Ruel Rope threw for 159 yards and 2 touchdowns in the loss.
ThunderRidge made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 242 from 293. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 56-35 victory over Doherty last week.
Miller Josh made the biggest impact on defense this week as Douglas County lost to the Knights. He grabbed 1 sack.
Brody Westmoreland was the most successful running back in 5A Continental this week. In 13 carries, he ran for 152 yards as the Grizzlies fell to Fairview. Steve Ray also contributed to the rushing game with 124 yards on the ground.
6-foot-2 quarterback Keaton Thames of Highlands Ranch is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1,729. He has also thrown 20 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Mark Hopper. The ThunderRidge star has 47 catches for 885 yards.
ThunderRidge led the league in scoring this week by notching 56 points on the Spartans. Westmoreland threw for 27 yards and 3 touchdowns and ran for 152 yards during the win.
