The Overton Eagles had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They greeted the New Year with with a 62-45 victory over Maxwell. The victory was just what Overton needed coming off of a 66-35 loss in their prior contest.
Overton found their leader in underclassman Brock McCarter, who scored 22 points along with five steals. Those 22 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Eli Luther, who scored 14 points.
Overton's win bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Maxwell, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Overton will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Brady on January 9th. Brady is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home. As for Maxwell, they will head out on the road to face off against Maywood/Hayes Center at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Maywood/Hayes Center focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven on Friday.
