The Elm Creek Buffaloes lost to the Minden Whippets back in December of 2021, but the Elm Creek Buffaloes didn't allow the Minden Whippets the same satisfaction on Saturday. Elm Creek secured a 53-47 W over Minden. The win made it back-to-back wins for Elm Creek.
Elm Creek found their leader in underclassman Quin Oberg, who scored 25 points along with six rebounds and five steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which Oberg has scored at least 25% of Elm Creek's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kade Sindt, who scored 13 points along with five assists.
Despite the loss, Minden still got an impressive performance from Brett Eckhardt, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Eckhardt scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Jake Ryan, who scored seven points along with five rebounds.
Even though they lost, Minden were working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Elm Creek now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Minden, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-3.
Elm Creek will be home for the holidays to greet St. Patrick's at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Minden will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Grand Island Central Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on December 29th.
