Dwight is 0-4 against Bishop McNamara since May of 2017 but things could change on Wednesday. The Trojans will challenge the Fightin' Irish at 4:30 p.m. Dwight has given up an average of 8 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Dwight came up short against Marquette on Tuesday, falling 16-4.
Dwight saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Taylor Frobish, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Bishop McNamara, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They put the hurt on Aurora Christian with a sharp 15-0 victory on Tuesday. The contest marked the Fightin' Irish's most dominant win of the season so far.
Joslynn Dole looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Teagan McCue was a standout: she scored four runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Rhaya DePaolo was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Bishop McNamara always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Aurora Christian only posted an OBP of .294.
Dwight's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Bishop McNamara, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
Wednesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Dwight hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .351. However, it's not like Bishop McNamara struggles in that department as they've averaged .313. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
