On Saturday, Wilber-Clatonia ended up a good deal behind Wood River and lost 48-30. While losing is never fun, Wilber-Clatonia can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 244th, while Wood River is ranked 121st).
Leading Wood River to victory were Macie Peters and Ellie Morgan. Peters scored 15 points along with four steals, while Morgan scored 18 points along with seven assists and six steals. The matchup was Morgan's sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nya Lual, who scored four points.
Wilber-Clatonia's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Wood River, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-3.
Wilber-Clatonia will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Syracuse at 6:00 p.m. on January 2nd. The timing is sure in Syracuse's favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home while Wilber-Clatonia has been banged up by six consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season. Wood River and Amherst will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
