The Roosevelt Rough Riders fought the good fight in their overtime match against the Highland Hornets on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Hornets by a score of 50-48. Roosevelt was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Highland apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.
When it comes to explaining why Roosevelt lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ryan Slocum. Despite the final result, he scored 15 points along with 7 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Grant Leslie, who dropped a double-double on 10 points and 11 rebounds.
Roosevelt now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Highland, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
Roosevelt will be playing in front of their home fans against Louisville at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Louisville presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Roosevelt in Ohio (Louisville is ranked 52nd, while Roosevelt is ranked 284th). Highland will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Revere at 8:00 p.m. on December 12th.
