Softball Recap: Ore City Has No Trouble Against Waskom

Ore City barely beat Waskom the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Rebels put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 14-4 win on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Rebels in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won eight in a row.

Jordan Johnson made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over six innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Kayla Peckham was incredible, going 3-for-5 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games she's played. Kylieann Humphrey was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.

Ore City kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.8 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 9.

Ore City's record is now 7-15-1. As for Waskom, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 12 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-16 record this season.

Ore City will challenge Union Grove at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lions have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.63 runs per game on average), something the Rebels will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Waskom, they will take on Carlisle at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wildcats are facing the Indians at the right time seeing as the Indians are stuck on a 23-game losing streak.
