The New Bloomfield Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight defeat. They fell to Marshall 67-61. Even though they lost, New Bloomfield's still made a splash on offense and bumped their average scoring up to 50.1 points per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).
New Bloomfield's loss came despite strong showings from Nathan Fuhriman and Jacob Fuhriman. Fuhriman scored 18 points along with six rebounds and two steals, while Fuhriman scored 19 points. Fuhriman has been hot recently, having posted 17 or more points the last four times he's played. Wyatt Jordan was another key contributor, scoring six points along with four steals.
Marshall had a senior duo take command as Stephen Caviness scored 23 points along with seven rebounds and Jayden Dominique scored 12 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Caviness has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaxson Case, who scored ten points along with six rebounds.
New Bloomfield's loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 7-14. As for Marshall, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 8-11 record this season.
New Bloomfield and the Falcons will face off at 7:00 p.m. on February 6th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Fayette has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since January 6. As for Marshall, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against the Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. Mexico knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past nine matchups -- so hopefully the Owls like a good challenge.
