Baseball Recap: Myrtle Snags Ninth Win in Last 12 Games

Myrtle made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Pine Grove, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Myrtle was the clear victor by a 9-1 margin over Pine Grove on Tuesday. Considering the Hawks have won nine contests by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Wes Stanton was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Cade Brown, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Myrtle has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.1 runs over those games. Pine Grove is on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-10.

Myrtle will have a chance to go back-to-back against Pine Grove: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
