Branham hasn't had much luck against Archbishop Mitty recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Bruins will head out to square off against the Monarchs at 4:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
While Branham's win against Gilroy wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Bruins never let the Mustangs get on the board and left with a 2-0 victory on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Bruins have posted against the Mustangs since April 4, 2023.
Not much got past Taylor Bugliarello, who gave up just two hits and racked up 13 Ks to keep Gilroy off the board.

On the hitting side, Makenzie Navarro was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. Ellie Weisman also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last contest, Archbishop Mitty made sure to put some runs up on the board against Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory on Friday. The Monarchs blew past the Fighting Irish 14-0. Considering the Monarchs have won ten matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Anya Shah tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched.
At the plate, Archbishop Mitty got a massive performance out of Makayla (MJ) Fikes, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Hahn, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.
Archbishop Mitty was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .581. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory only posted a batting average of .118.
Branham's record now sits at 10-8. As for Archbishop Mitty, their record is now 18-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Branham has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Archbishop Mitty struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Branham suffered a grim 9-3 defeat to Archbishop Mitty when the teams last played back in March of 2025. Can the Bruins avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
