Berea-Midpark and Avon Lake are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2019, but not for long. The Berea-Midpark Titans will be playing at home against the Avon Lake Shoremen at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Berea-Midpark has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 424 points over their last six contests.
Berea-Midpark proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by 30) but on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past Elyria 72-69. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Berea-Midpark to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tyson Clay, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Austin Clay, who scored 17 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Avon Lake had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against Avon by a score of 70-63 on Saturday. The win was all the more spectacular given Avon Lake's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 318th, while Avon is ranked 107th).
Berea-Midpark's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.8 points per game. As for Avon Lake, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.
Berea-Midpark was able to grind out a solid win over Avon Lake in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, winning 63-51. Will Berea-Midpark repeat their success, or does Avon Lake have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
