Even though the Covenant Christian Cougars have not done well against the Rosehill Christian Eagles recently (they were 0-6 in their previous six matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Covenant Christian wrapped up 2023 with a 59-45 victory over Rosehill Christian. The victory was all the more spectacular given Covenant Christian's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 529th, while Rosehill Christian is ranked 148th).
It was another big night for Keeley Chaddick, who went 9 for 17 from beyond the arc en route to 31 points and 2 assists. The match was her fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Alani Owens, who scored 16 points along with five assists.
Covenant Christian pushed their record up to 11-8 with that victory, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.6 points per game. As for Rosehill Christian, their defeat ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 9-2.
Covenant Christian will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Geneva at 2:00 p.m. on December 30, 2023. Geneva will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak. Rosehill Christian will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Christian Homeschool Sports Ministries at 6:00 p.m. on January 9th.
