MORENO VALLEY, Calif. -
Arlington (Riverside, Calif.) captured the lead in the fourth quarter and held on for a 22-17 victory over
Valley View (Moreno Valley, Calif.) on Saturday. The Lions took the lead for good when
Lavell Thomas thew a touchdown to
Sean Ean.
The Eagles pulled ahead on a field goal by
Josh Gonzales, and subsequently went into halftime leading 10-0. The Lions took the lead to win the game on a touchdown pass by Thomas to Ean in the fourth quarter.
Despite scoring eight points in the third, Arlington still trailed by nine points going into the fourth quarter. But 14 points in the fourth helped AHS pull out the victory.
The final score was a stunner, as the Riverside school was ranked No. 373 in the MaxPreps Freeman Rankings for California, far below Valley View's spot at No. 295.
Last season's game between the teams resulted in a 32-10 win for the Lions.
In a Inland Valley game next week Valley View (3-3) takes on Vista del Lago, and Arlington (2-3) will go up against Poly also in a Inland Valley game.
