Brownstown Central took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They blew past Eastern 11-1.
Brownstown Central got a great performance from Shyla Steele as she tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.
On the hitting side, Brownstown Central let Brooke Meahl and Olivia Justice run wild. Meahl scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4, while Justice went 2-for-4 with five RBI and two doubles. That's the most stolen bases Meahl has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kinzee Dean, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Brownstown Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, on Saturday West Washington's undefeated season almost came to an end. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 4-3 W against Salem. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Senators have posted since May 13, 2024.
West Washington saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Layla Manship, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.
West Washington's win was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-0. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Brownstown Central, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
West Washington's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Brownstown Central hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .360. It's a different story for West Washington, though, as they've only averaged .250. Will they be able to contain Brownstown Central's hitters?
