The West Ashley Wildcats will head out on the road to challenge the Fort Dorchester Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
West Ashley suffered their biggest loss since December 8, 2023 on Tuesday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 54-33 walloping at the hands of Summerville. West Ashley has not had much luck with Summerville recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Despite their defeat, West Ashley saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Ella Crowe, who scored six points along with five rebounds and three steals, was perhaps the best of all. Crowe has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Serenity Corley, who scored no points along with three steals and two blocks.
Meanwhile, Fort Dorchester's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 50-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of Stall.
West Ashley has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season. As for Fort Dorchester, their loss dropped their record down to 9-9.
West Ashley lost to Fort Dorchester on the road by a decisive 54-38 margin in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Thankfully for West Ashley, Denver Mathis (who dropped a double-double on 29 points and 14 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
