The Westside Seminoles lost against the Spalding Jaguars back in October of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Westside had to suffer through a rough 48-21 loss at the hands of Spalding. Westside was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-7.
Kadiphius Iverson and Jessie Bell, Westside certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Iverson rushed for 136 yards and two touchdowns, while Bell rushed for 121 yards and a touchdown. Bell is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played.
Spalding's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Robert Henderson, who picked up 108 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also rushed for 92 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Curt Clark, who threw for 174 yards and two touchdowns on only nine passes.
Westside's defeat dropped their record down to 6-2. As for Spalding, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.
Westside will head out on the road to face off against Baldwin at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Baldwin is on a four-game streak of home wins, Westside a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the field. Spalding will take on Perry at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Perry knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight matches -- so hopefully Spalding likes a good challenge.
