The Heritage Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Douglas County Huskies at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Neither Heritage nor Douglas County posted many points in their last games, so it might be the defenses that decide this one.
Heritage came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They were beaten by Regis Jesuit 83-18. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 169th, while the Raiders are ranked tenth).

Despite the defeat, Heritage saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Addy Buseck posted no points and 13 boards. Buseck is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in each of the last three games she's played. Lexi Robinson also deserves some recognition as she scored her first points of the season.
Even though they lost, Heritage smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Douglas County played a tough game on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 53-12 loss at the hands of ThunderRidge. The Huskies were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-7.
Heritage will have to contain Addison Fitzgerald as she made an impact in Douglas County's last game. She put up six points.
Heritage has traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last 12 contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 6-16 record this season. As for Douglas County, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-17.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Heritage has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 26.1 boards per game. However, it's not like Douglas County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 24 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Heritage couldn't quite finish off Douglas County when the teams last played back in February of 2024 and fell 54-51. Can Heritage avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
