The Keystone Heights Indians will take on the Providence School Stallions at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The last three games Keystone Heights has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Keystone Heights blew Newberry out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Thursday Newberry got their revenge. Keystone Heights fell just short of Newberry by a score of 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Indians have suffered since April 16, 2024.
Amberlea Wagner was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 1-for-3. Tayler Buchanan was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Thursday Providence School sidestepped Bishop Kenny for a 4-2 victory. The Stallions haven't had any issues with the Crusaders recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Elle Burns made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. Burns was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. Burns is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's stole at least one every time she's taken the field this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Summer Stearns, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. She has been hot, having also posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Tessa Eckert, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.
Keystone Heights now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Providence School, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
Keystone Heights came out on top in a nail-biter against Providence School when the teams last played back in May of 2022, sneaking past 3-1. Does Keystone Heights have another victory up their sleeve, or will Providence School turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
