The Fishers Tigers put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They wrapped up 2023 with a 62-45 victory over Portage. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Fishers has scored all season.
Keenan Garner continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 18 points and 13 rebounds. The match was his tenth in a row with at least ten points. Taden Metzger was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Portage lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jaelyn Johnson, who scored 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Kobe, who scored eight points.
Portage struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Fishers' win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-0. As for Portage, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fishers and Chesterton will face off at 7:00 p.m. on December 29, 2023 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Chesterton will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 73rd, while Fishers is ranked first). As for Portage, they will be playing at home against Valparaiso at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Valparaiso is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 62.3 points per game.
