The Florence Gophers will square off against the Seton Catholic Sentinels at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Florence will be coming into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line.
Florence's tournament run continued when they took on Snowflake on Saturday. Florence secured a 66-62 W over Snowflake. Given the Gophers' advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 39th, while the Lobos are ranked 170th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Florence found their leader in sophomore Brody Ramirez, who went 11 of 21 en route to 30 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Adrian Taufaasau, who went 7 of 11 on his way to 15 points.
Meanwhile, Seton Catholic was able to grind out a solid victory over Thatcher on Saturday, taking the game 56-49.
Seton Catholic's win came from a few key players Florence will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Dylan Alvidrez, who went 6 of 8 on his way to 17 points. Those 17 points gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Morris, who posted 13 points.
Seton Catholic is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a massive bump to their 10-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.7 points per game. As for Florence, their win bumped their record up to 14-0.
Keep an eye on the arc in Monday's contest: Florence has been dynamite from deep this season, having made 54% of their three-pointers per game. It's a different story for Seton Catholic, though, as they've only made 27.2% of their threes this season. Given Florence's sizable advantage in that area, Seton Catholic will need to find a way to close that gap.
