It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Centennial had no problem doing just that on Monday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Central Cobras a 15-0 shutout. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by six runs or more this season.
Hailey Brereton was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Jaelyn Cooke and Giana Devries did most of the damage at the plate: Cooke went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while Devries went 1-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI Devries has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Autumn Prakash, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
Centennial has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-13.
As of now, neither Centennial nor the Cobras have any future games scheduled.
