Lincoln is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Friday. They will welcome the Cathedral Catholic Dons at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Cathedral Catholic will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Lincoln extended their winning streak to four on Friday. The Hornets simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat University City 56-0. Given the Hornets' advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked eighth, while the Centurions are ranked 295th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lincoln to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kainan Manna, who threw for 139 yards and three TDs on only six passes. Junior Curtis was another key rusher, rushing for 107 yards and one touchdown on only five carries.
Lincoln's run defense was locked in: University City could only muster two yards per carry. The team can thank Cam Joy for the heroic effort on defense: he. Lincoln didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 12.6.

Lincoln's defense also made the game a nightmare for the opposing QB, racking up seven sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Jaydin Lewis and Prince Tavizon, who racked up five sacks between them. Tavizon is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made five or more in each of the last 12 games he's played dating back to last season. Another thorn in University City's side was Christian Beltran-Palomera, who picked up a sack and made seven total tackles (2.0 for loss).
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Cathedral Catholic, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They took their game on Friday with ease, bagging a 41-0 victory over Scripps Ranch. The win continues a trend for the Dons in their matchups with the Falcons: they've now won four in a row.
Lincoln better focus on containing Honor Faalave and Isaac Cook as the pair were huge in Cathedral Catholic's win. Faalave gained 145 total yards and two touchdowns, while Cook picked up 111 receiving yards and a pair of scores. Cook's longest reception was for an incredible 70 yards.
Cathedral Catholic didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Tim Hawkins and Faalave.
Lincoln's victory bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Cathedral Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 6-2.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Lincoln has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 223.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Cathedral Catholic struggles in that department as they've been averaging 199.2 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Lincoln strolled past Cathedral Catholic in their previous matchup back in November of 2024 by a score of 31-13. Do the Hornets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Dons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
