Woodstock North has gone a perfect 3-0 against Sandwich recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Thunder will head out to face off against the Indians at 4:30 p.m. Woodstock North is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games.
On Thursday, Woodstock North narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Richmond-Burton 3-1.
Woodstock North's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Emma Enot, who went 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That RBI was Enot's first of the season.
Sandwich came out on top against Earlville on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive nine-run fourth inning. The Indians never let the Red Raiders get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Indians.
Not much got past Paige Danner, who gave up just three hits and racked up eight Ks to keep Earlville off the board. Danner has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jillian Freemon, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Abigail Johnson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Sandwich was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They are 5-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Sandwich's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-9. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games. As for Woodstock North, their record now sits at 10-7.
Woodstock North beat Sandwich 6-1 in their previous matchup back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Thunder since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
